On Sunday August 29, 2021, our Yemen team along with our partner, Nahd Developmental Foundation, distributed 275 food baskets to highly vulnerable families in the Governorate of Aden (District of Sheikh Othman). The food baskets were designed to meet the nutritional needs of these households for one month.

Each food basket contained a 20 kg sack of rice, 50 kg bag of flour, 5 kg bag of sugar, 4 litres of cooking oil, 24 cans of beans, and 2 kg of salt.

The project mainly targeted the highly vulnerable families in the Sheikh Othman District. Many of the supported families consist of IDPs and people with special needs. Since the start of the conflict in Yemen, an estimated 4.3 million people have fled their homes, including approximately 3.3 million people who remain displaced. Additionally, 16.2 million Yemenis are food insecure.
