Turkey & Syria Earthquake Response – FEB 2023

With an estimated 28 000 deaths reported so far, Turkey and Syria are facing the aftermath of one of the largest earthquakes to hit the region in over 80 years. In the midst of the freezing weather conditions, many people have been left displaced after losing their loved ones and homes, with limited access to essential aid adding to the devastation.

Within hours of the earthquake, our local partners from Safe Haven for Refugees/Anything for a Smile, initiated an immediate response to supply food and essentials to the port city of Iskenderun, to assist survivors of the earthquake.

With regular trips to Antakya and Kahramanmaras, cities that are very close to the epicentre of the earthquake, they have been able to provide food, water, blankets and mattresses to the many families in need.

To assist many desperate citizens affected by this earthquake, GMF Australia is committed to providing regular aid especially in the coming weeks and months.

All donations received towards this effort will be directed to our counterparts, Safe Haven for Refugees, to carry out their work on the ground. Please donate generously as many people in Turkey and Syria are in dire need of our support.
