Our mission in Maroua in the Northern region of Cameroon was co-ordinated with the help of our project partners Islamic Help Cameroon.The Northern Region of Cameroon comprises mostly of poor subsistence farmers and field laborers who earn meager incomes with which to support their families. The income of these families goes primarily to meet the basic requirements of food, clothing and shelter. Naturally, attention for the health care requirement in this situation is an unattainable goal. It’s well known that a high percentage of people in developing countries live with visual impairment. Early interventions can prevent blindness and enable patients to try and get out of the poverty trap.

380 patients were screened. A total of 100 cataract surgeries were done in the first week of November 2021
